Museum News

Updated Donation Links

The museum has updated its donation links to allow for both one-time and recurring donations. Due to the greatly reduced visitor volume, we have seen a dramatic drop in donations.

All of our staff are volunteers and are not paid to help. In fact, many of them give much more than their share of time and resources to make the museum a success, but they can’t do it alone.

Please help the museum continue its mission to honor those who served and to educate others about their sacrifices.

Please donate now.

Museum Closing Temporarily

Due to many of the museum volunteers and their families being at high risk of complications from COVID-19, the Board of Directors has decided to temporarily close the Maine Military Museum beginning on March 21, 2020.

Museum Open During Virus & Flu Season

The Maine Military Museum is remaining open for its regular hours during the cold and flu season.

To help reduce the spread of infectious disease, we have increased the frequency of our cleaning and disinfection routines.

We are using both bleach based cleaning products and antiviral sprays on counters, tables, door handles, safety rails, drinking fountain, and faucet handles.

We continue to welcome all healthy visitors to the museum and encourage those who are, or may be sick to recover quickly at home.

Maine Air Guard Presents Sword

At their annual holiday party and training event, the Maine Air National Guard presented museum curator Lee Humiston with a civil war era sword. The sword will be proudly displayed at the museum.

The Maine Military Museum Board of Directors thanks the Air Guard members for all that they do for the museum and we wish them the best in the new year.
